Fringe Festival: Crime movie spoofs, greasy goings on, #MeToo moments

With just a few more days to go of this 28th edition of the Montreal Fringe, how do you choose from the over 100 shows playing in 18 venues across the city? Here are five of them that are well worth your time and 10 bucks.

  1. Glam Gam Productions have long been the go-to place for raunchy polyamorous Fringe thrills. Last year, their Peter Pansexual won the Spirit of the Fringe Award, and it’s hard to imagine anything more cheerfully Fringe-spirited than their latest, Greasy: A Lesbian Love Story (Café Cleopatra, 1230 St-Laurent Blvd.). As you’ve probably guessed from the title, it’s a proudly queer twist on the Travolta/Newton-John family musical. The opening scene of Summer Lovin’ involves two women, punkish Dani and blond Essex girl Winter, rolling around naked on the upstairs cabaret stage of Montreal’s historic strip club.
