A Montreal seniors’ residence will soon have 20 100-year-olds among its residents, nine of whom will be celebrated on Sunday.
The nine will reach the venerable age of 100 this year at the Waldorf residence in Côte-Saint-Luc. That will bring to 20 the number of residents who are at least 100.
Having 20 centenarians under one roof is not trivial since only 0.02 per cent of the Quebec population lives to that age.
These seven men and 13 women, including a lady who will turn 106 on Monday, will have a celebration on Sunday organizes by the residences’ owner, Réseau Sélection. Many dignitaries will attend, including the Minister Responsible for Seniors Francine Charbonneau.
They will also receive an official letter signed by Quebec Premier Philippe Couillard.
