The Canadiens welcomed new goalie Antti Niemi to Montreal Wednesday by having him lead the team stretch at the end of practice in Brossard, tapping their sticks on the ice afterward.
“It was fun … I don’t normally do that, so it was exciting,” Niemi said in the locker room after when he met with the Montreal media for the first time since being claimed on waivers from the Florida Panthers on Tuesday. “Everything’s exciting about being here. There’s lots of media and it’s Canada, it’s Montreal … so it’s all great.”
Less than two months into the NHL season, Niemi is already with his third team.
