T.M.R. doctor to be sanctioned over photos of female patients

A disciplinary board has found that a family doctor practising at a clinic in Town of Mount Royal abused his authority as a physician when he snapped a picture of a woman’s vulva without her knowledge or consent during a consultation on April 12 last year.

The board also found Dr. Craig Smith violated the medical code of ethics when he tried to use his smartphone to take a picture of another woman’s bare breasts — again, without her knowledge or consent — during a consultation six days later.

Smith, who practises at the Centre médical Santé Mont-Royal, did not return a phone message left at his clinic on Thursday.
