Marie-Philip Poulin, star forward for the Montreal Canadiennes and the player with the most goals in the Canadian Women’s Hockey League this season, won three awards at the CWHL’s awards ceremony Friday night, including league MVP.
Poulin, who turns 28 next week, was the only multiple-award winner on Friday. In addition to the official MVP award as voted by team coaches and general managers, she also took home the Jayna Hefford Trophy, which is voted on by players, and the Angela James Bowl for most points in the regular season. Poulin finished with 50 points, just two ahead of teammate Ann-Sophie Bettez.
The Canadiennes’ Erin Ambrose was also honoured as Defenceman of the Year. Ambrose was the top-scoring defenceman with 24 points in 26 games.
