TAMPA, Fla. — Adam Erne knows Nikita Kucherov as well as anybody.
They were teammates with the QMJHL’s Quebec Remparts, with the AHL’s Syracuse Crunch and now with the Tampa Bay Lightning, sitting next to each other in the locker room at Amalie Arena.
“He’s always been a super-skilled guy,” Erne said after the Lightning’s morning skate Saturday. “Surprisingly quiet. He’s one of my good friends, for sure. He’s kind of silent but deadly, I guess. He’s really relaxed, focused. But, obviously, the most skilled guy I’ve ever seen.”
Heading into Saturday night’s game against the Canadiens, Kucherov was leading the NHL in scoring with 26-66-92 totals, five points ahead of the Chicago Blackhawks’ Patrick Kane (34-51-85).
